In Japan, family members, especially children
or daughter-in-law, traditionally take care of aged parents at home. Short-term
stay is to reduce the family’s burden and to maintain and improve the abilities
of the elderly to ensure that they continue to live at home. This service can
be used for from one night to maximum 30 days according to their convenience.
Our group is promoting a project of package
of cares to ensure the elderly to have successful life. To make individual care
plans, it is important to have practical information from assessments of the
medical, environmental and welfare points of view. Short-term stay facility is
the best place to give welfare assessment because people can be observed 24 hours,
that makes it easier to find out exact needs of them.
